A Pair of Chairs Redone

Crocheting is not my only craft. One of the many things I do is save old ugly furniture and make it beautiful again. I was digging through some rusty dusty things the other day when I discovered a chair. It was dirty and sad and it’s seat was nearly gone, but it was structurally sound and had a unique design, so I set it out. I went back to see what else I could find and, lo and behold, I found it’s mate!
The chairs were genuinely happy to be reunited with each other and promised me that if I took them home and gave them some much needed love, they would be beautiful again.

The first thing I did was cut what was left of their old seats out and then gave them a much needed bath. Literally, in the bathtub, scrubbed from head to toe.
After I let them dry I gave them a good rub down with a product called Howard’s Restore-A-Finish.
See, the one on the right is already looking better!

After that they got another good rub down, this time with Howard’s Feed-N-Wax. Then it was time to replace the cane seat. I think they look amazing!

I’d love to keep them but my house is small so I will take them to my antique shop and find them another good home.
